What is a hole-in-one on a par 5 called?
An ace of a par 5 – typically one of the longest holes on any golf course – is known as a “condor.” Through 2021, there are only six known official condors in the world.
Supposedly, this is the name assigned to completing a hole having struck the ball five fewer times than par. In other words, this is what happens when you hole-out a Par 7 with two strokes or shoot a Hole-In-One on a Par Six.
Holes-in-one on par 5 (or higher) holes
As of January 2021, a condor (four under par) hole-in-one on a par-5 hole had been recorded on five occasions. A horseshoe-shaped par-5 hole once enabled a condor hole-in-one to be achieved with a 3-iron club.
A hole in one is called a “double eagle” when the ball goes into the hole from two feet or less from the green, on a par-4 course. The double eagle club is made up of players who have achieved this rare feat at least once during their career.
[A] Ace When a player hits the ball directly from the tee into the hole with one stroke. Also called a hole in one. Albatross A hole played three strokes under par, also called a Double Eagle.
Double eagles/albatrosses, by the way, are rarer than holes-in-one. And there have been only a handful of condors made in all of golf history. In theory, because it's never happened (and because par-7 holes only exist on a few golf courses), a score of 2 on a par-7 hole would be called an ostrich.
Ace. Also known as a hole-in-one, an ace is a hole completed in a single stroke. These are most common on par 3 holes, which are the shortest holes on a golf course.
Woods has hit a hole-in-one 20 times in the course of his lifetime, his first at the age of six. Three have come in PGA Tour competitions - at the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open, 1997 Phoenix Open, and 1998 Sprint International. Woods is the only professional golfer to win four majors in a row.
The longest hole in the world is the third hole of the Jeongeup Course at Gunsan Country Club. It is a par 7 and not surprisingly it has a stroke index of 1.
But no one is ever going to birdie 18 holes. In the perfect game you reach the green in the fewest possible number of strokes and hole your first putt. If you can reach the green in two strokes, then the second shot should go in the cup. It will never be played.
What is a boogie in golf?
A Bogey means one over par.
Golf is played over a series of holes called a golf course. Most golf courses are made up of 18 holes, but some have 9 holes. Each golf course is unique in size, shape, length, hazards, and terrain and each hole on a given golf course is unique.

QUIVER. QUINTUPLE BOGEY. Completing a hole having struck the ball five more times than par, such as taking an nine on a par four hole.
Size: 4.25 inches. Ghost Holes are 4.25” silicone discs that are designed for you to use during a practice round for your club championship, a putting green that does not have holes cut, your carpet at home or even as a drink coaster.
A condor is also known as a double albatross, or a triple eagle. This is the lowest individual hole score ever made, relative to par. A condor would be a hole-in-one on a par-five (typically by cutting over a dogleg corner), a two on a par-six, or a three on a par-seven (which is not known to have been achieved).
Scoring Stats on Augusta National Hole 8
Yellow Jasmine is a birdie hole: It has played, over the course of the Masters' history, below par with an all-time stroke average of 4.82.
These are the high scores that follow double bogey, triple bogey, quadruple bogey and quintuple bogey: A score of 6-over par on a hole is a sextuple bogey. A score of 7-over par is a septuple bogey. A score of 8-over on a hole is an octuple bogey. 9-over par on a single hole is a nonuple bogey.
Albatross. For hole completions three strokes under par is recognized in golf as Albatross. This is also known as “double eagle” in relation to the “birdie” and “eagle” theme. More on albatross in golf here.
Do par-6 holes exist on golf courses around the world? Yes, but they are not common. How long does a hole have to be to be called a par-6? Nearly 700 yards for men, nearly 600 yards for women — but there are other factors besides length that determine what the par rating of a golf hole is.
Quadruple Bogey - A "Quadruple Bogey" is when a golfer scores four strokes OVER par. Ex: 8 strokes on a par-4 hole.
What is 6 under par called?
Terms exist for even rarer events — "ostrich" for 5 under par (-5) and "phoenix" for 6 under par (-6) — but no one has ever made these shots. Some consider them impossible — they require a hole-in-one on a par-6 or par-7 hole — because these holes themselves are very rare.
A golf course's finishing hole is straightforward: it's the last hole on the course. The hole where the golf course finishes. If Podunk National Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course, then the 18th hole is the finishing hole. If it is a 9-holer, then the ninth hole is the finishing hole.
So Nicklaus did not win any of the tournaments in which he aced, and only one of his 21 career aces happened in a major — none in a "regular" (meaning not senior) major. But Nicklaus did score holes-in-ones twice during practice rounds prior to major championships.
It's only happened once in PGA Tour history. Andrew Magee did it at the 2001 Phoenix Open on the 332-yard, par-4 17th hole at TPC Scottsdale. And it was under strange circumstances.
Arnold Palmer's 21 ace distances range from 122 to 245 yards for a total of 3,305 yards or about 1.8 miles of unbroken magic. Most golfers treat their aces the way the do their grandchildren.

A 9-hole course is exactly what it says – a golf course with 9 holes. Like 18-hole golf courses, a 9-hole golf course is mostly comprised of par-4 holes plus a combination of par-3 and par-5 holes.
Satsuki Golf Club – 7th
The 7th at Satsuki in Japan is so long we have to make the step up to a par 7. Measuring a whopping 964 yards, it is officially the world's longest golf hole according to the Guinness World Records.
The maximum score for each hole played is limited to a net double bogey – which is equal to Par of the hole + 2 strokes (double bogey) + any handicap strokes the player is entitled to receive on that hole based on their Course Handicap.
A Choker Tournament is a golf format for three- or four-person teams in which one person per team, on every hole, is put on the spot: come up with a decent score, or choke and hurt your team's chances.
What is a bunny in golf?
Updated on 07/05/19. "Rabbit" is a golf side bet that is a game for a group of three or a group of four golfers. In Rabbit, the object is to "catch the rabbit" — which a golfer does by winning a hole (having the low score of the group) — and to still have possession of the rabbit when the front nine ends.

Larry Bruce is credited as having the first ever recorded condor. In 1962, he smashed his ball over a copse of trees on a 480-yard par-5 at Hope Country Club in Arkansas and found the cup on the hole that doglegged sharply to the right.
Double Bogey: A double bogey is two strokes above par. So if a golfer takes 6 shots to get their ball into the hole on a par 4, they have scored a double bogey. Triple Bogey: A triple bogey is three strokes above par.

What is a birthday hole in golf?
Six holes will be your 'birthday' holes to score how you like: six bogeys, or five bogeys and a double. Or two doubles, four bogeys and a birdie. The most important thing to remember is there is room for error so avoid becoming despondent if you make a double.
So what does an "ostrich" means? A golfer who scores an ostrich is one who played a hole in 5-under par.

Golfers have scored condors (a condor means scoring 4-under on a hole — making a hole-in-one on a par-5 or holing out in two on a par-6), but condors are exceedingly rare. And, as we said, as far as we know there has never been an ostrich — a score of 5-under-par on a single golf hole — anywhere, any time.
Do par-6 holes exist on golf courses around the world? Yes, but they are not common. How long does a hole have to be to be called a par-6? Nearly 700 yards for men, nearly 600 yards for women — but there are other factors besides length that determine what the par rating of a golf hole is.
